Job Description Summary: This position performs support services for the Mill Creek Police Department in the areas of animal control, parking enforcement, noise regulations, responding to calls for assistance of a non-criminal nature, transporting prisoners, and other activities within the department. This position is a "specially commissioned Washington peace officer" as defined in RCW 10.93.020(5).

Department Information

The Mill Creek Police Department was formed in 1985 with 5 full-time sworn personnel. The department has grown to 26 full-time officers consisting of a Police Chief, an Operations Commander, 4 Sergeants, 1 Detective Sergeant, 2 Detectives, 1 School Resource Officer & 16 officers assigned to patrol. Officers assigned to the Patrol Division work 12-hour shifts. Support staff members include a Support Services Manager, 2 Records Technicians, 1 Records Specialist, 1 Police Support Officer, and a part-time Property/Evidence Technician. Since inception, the focus of the department has been on quality service to the community. A high degree of police visibility and interaction with the citizens is the number one priority of the department. The Mill Creek Police Department is an active partner in local, county, and state education and enforcement programs.

After oral board interviews are conducted on an as-needed basis, a ranked eligibility list is presented to the Civil Service Commission for certification. An individual candidate's ranking may change when other candidates are added to or removed from the ranked eligibility list. Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of five" with the top five candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation & selection as vacancies occur.

Salary Information

2014:  $3,728 - 4,906 per month.
