Department Information

Since inception, the focus of the Mill Creek Police Department has been on quality service to the community. A high degree of police visibility and interaction with the citizens is the number one priority of the department. We are an active partner in local, county, and state education and enforcement programs. Our commitment to the community is to consistently provide uncompromising levels of service, safety, and security, while maintaining the ability to be flexible and responsive to the ever-changing dynamics of a vibrant and active city. The Mill Creek Police Department has 28 full-time employees, and several volunteers. Our commissioned officers may have opportunities to participate in special assignments to help grow their skill sets, including a regional SWAT team, growth of our K9 program, School Resource Officer program, Traffic focus, Corporal program, and more. We value our Officer’s individual interests and strengths and are always looking for ways to improve our operations, community safety, and community relationships. Most commissioned officers work 12 hour shifts with an alternating weekly schedule. Generally, new officers can expect to work overnight shifts after completion of the academy and field training, and all new officers are assigned a mentor in addition to their supervisor and training officers.

After oral board interviews are conducted on an as-needed basis, a ranked eligibility list is presented to the Civil Service Commission for certification. An individual candidate's ranking may change when other candidates are added to or removed from the ranked eligibility list. Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of five" with the top five candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation & selection as vacancies occur.

2022:  $5809-$7786 per month
