It was the last county established in Washington in 1911 and has a population of approximately 14,179. Our County is home to many pristine mountains, lakes, and hiking trails and conveniently located 45 minutes from Spokane WA, and 45 minutes from Sandpoint Idaho.

Job Description

No Experience is necessary for Entry. All Training Provided.

Dispatchers are responsible for the transmission of radio and telephone messages and requests for law enforcement, emergency medical, and fire services. Shall dispatch public safety units and monitor their activity, providing support as required. Handles highly stressful emergency requests; calms, negotiates, and controls callers to gather essential information to communicate to responders. Coordinates inter-office telephone traffic and other correspondence. Acts as a direct representative of the Sheriff when dispatching Sheriff's Office law enforcement personnel. 

Coordinates with the jail for prisoner transports. Provides security by video camera and visual surveillance in the jail, lobby, and exterior door areas. Monitors and operates secure jail doors, gates, and access to civil areas. Monitors alarms for jail, court, and Sheriff's Office. Security checks visitors and coordinates inmate visitation. 

Generates cases and maintains appropriate records in the Spillman System; maintains general law enforcement records as required by the Sheriff. Enters and maintains records required by the ACCESS/NCIC systems including warrants, restraining, and protection orders. Required to deal with sensitive information discreetly and professionally. 

Performs general office work and other such duties as may be required.

SALARY: Starting salary: Entry Level at Step 1, $22.44/ hour ($3889.73/mo.) Laterals at Step 2, $23.34/hour - $25.24/hour ($4,045.30 - $4,375.40/month) Depending on Experience.

Full Salary Range: $3,889.73 - $4,921.74 per month

You will be allowed four (4) attempts at the typing test every seven (7) days and are responsible for selecting the score that you want PST to forward to the agencies you have applied with.

- Been dishonorably discharged from the United States Armed Forces. 

- Lied during any stage of the hiring process. 

- Falsified his or her application, personal history questionnaire, or any other forms during the hiring process. 

- Previous revocation or denial of (CJTC/POST) certified status, or suspension of current (CJC/POST) certified status.
