LICENSING UNIT / FORENSIC UNIT

Agents in these units are non-certified and are not required to carry a firearm, participate in Use of Force training, or attend the Basic Law Enforcement Academy (BLEA).

We currently have NO VACANCIES for Special Agent in our Licensing Unit.

The Licensing Unit is the entry point for those seeking authority to participate in licensed gambling activities in the State of Washington. This position is located in our Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA and is eligible for a telework/in-office hybrid schedule. You should live within a commutable distance to our Lacey office for in-person meetings and activities.

Agents conduct pre-licensing financial investigations, financial reviews and source of funds investigations, criminal history investigations, post licensing investigations and charitable/nonprofit reviews. Work in this unit requires out-of-state and out-of-country travel, providing ongoing training to the Tribes, licensees, and the public.

We have three (3) vacancies for Special Agent in our Forensic Unit.Based on the needs of the agency or the applicant the positions will be located in a home office or in an agency office in Lacey, Spokane, or Federal Way.

Two (2) positions will be located on the West side of the state. Counties of consideration are (Lewis, Mason, Thurston, Kitsap, Pierce, King and Snohomish)

One (1) position will be located on the East side of the state. Counties of consideration are (Spokane, Benton, Yakima, Kittitas).

Agents in this unit are non-certified and are not required to carry a firearm, participate in Use of Force training, or attend the Basic Law Enforcement Academy (BLEA).

Special Agents assigned to this team conduct in-depth and independent compliance audits and investigations of licensees and other affiliated organizations. They examine and analyze gambling and financial records for compliance with rules/laws and detection of financial misconduct. Furthermore, they evaluate licensee records and internal controls to detect and prevent hidden ownership or conflicts of interest.

Because these position(s) require the regular use of an agency vehicle in the performance of duties, it is considered a “safety sensitive” position.

Hiring Status

Salary Information

Special Agent starting salary ranges from $64,620 - $88,752 annually, depending upon your education and experience.
