Twisp is located in the heart of the Methow Valley in Okanogan County in north central Washington on the east slopes of the Cascade Mountains. The town population is a little over 1,000 and is the business center for the approximately 65-mile stretch of the Methow Valley; a designated Creative District and arts community in the State of Washington surrounded by year-round abundant outdoor recreational opportunities and a growing tourism industry. Twisp is growing with new home construction and adjacent lands being annexed. The strong creative economy complements an evolving agricultural base replacing the town’s once traditional lumber-based economy.


Department Information

TOWN OF TWISP POLICE DEPARTMENT

Located in the Cascade Mountains of North Central Washington. The department is progressive and small, with opportunity to grow.

The Police Department has a total of three (3) Commissioned Officers, including the Chief and one (1) Civilian employee, an Administrative Assistant. The Department also has the capacity to have part-time Reserve Officers.

This cohesive department has good equipment and works closely with surrounding agencies.

Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Police Officer serves under the direction of the Police Chief and is the primary first responder of the Twisp Police Department, as well as an active patrol officer. The Police Officer is the backbone of the department and in many cases the face of the department when it comes to interaction with the general public. The Police Officer plays a critical role to achieve public safety objectives and enforcement of the laws of the State of Washington, as well as administrative and legislative policies and ordinances of the Town of Twisp. The Police Officer takes direct orders from the Police Chief in all matters related to all public safety activities and departmental functions to ensure the departmental mission is carried out in a just and objective manner with a focus on the protection of life and property.

Salary:

Entry Level $72,696 to $76,481

Lateral $77,833 to $83.824

Candidates will serve a twelve (12) month probationary period.

This is a full time Police Officer position with excellent benefits to include:

•Ability to earn sick leave - eight (8) hours per month up to 720 hours

•Ability to earn vacation leave – forty (40) hours after the first six (6) months of employment
