IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING TESTING

On March 1, 2025 Public Safety Testing will be transitioning to a new test. Snohomish County will continue to accept candidates from the current test (administered before February 28, 2025) until our list is exhausted or March 7th, 2025. Once the list is exhausted or expires, only candidates that have taken the new written exam after March 1st, 2025 will be considered.

Snohomish County is located on Puget Sound, between Skagit County to the north and King County (and Seattle) to the south. Covering 2,090 square miles, it is the 13th largest county in total land area in Washington.

Snohomish County's varied topography ranges from saltwater beaches, rolling hills and rich river bottom farmlands in the west to dense forest and alpine wilderness in the mountainous east. Glacier Peak, at 10,541 feet, is the highest point in Snohomish County and one of the highest in Washington State. Sixty-eight percent of the county land area is forest land, 18% is rural, 9% is urban/city and 5% is agricultural.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office is a full service law enforcement agency providing law enforcement, jail services, court security, and civil processing services to all areas of unincorporated Snohomish County and to the contract cities of Stanwood, Granite Falls, Gold Bar, Darrington, Snohomish, Sultan, and Index.  The Sheriff's Office also provides police services to Paine Field Airport and Community Transit.

Hiring Status

The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST. Salary Information

Step 1: Deputy $83,349.96

Step 2: Deputy $92,324.76

Step 3: Deputy $101,417.28

Step 4: Deputy $109,139.16

Additional per month college incentive (Associate, Bachelors and Masters degrees must be received from an accredited college or university):

AA Degree = 3.5% additional pay

BA Degree = 7% additional pay

MA Degree = 9% additional pay
