Community Information

Quincy is located near the center of Washington State just 10 miles North of I-90. Quincy is the gateway to the Wenatchee Valley, Leavenworth and the Okanogan Valley if you are traveling from the South or East. Tourism is a major part of our economy. The Gorge Amphitheater, which draws an estimated 3,000 to 20,000 people per concert, is located 10 miles southwest of Quincy. Sunland Estates summer homes and the Crescent Bar Recreation area all add to our tourism along with the already available hunting, fishing, rock climbing and boating.

Job Description

The position of this class is responsible for performing law enforcement, crime prevention, and investigation work. Primary responsibility is for the protection of life and property through enforcing statutes and laws. Duties normally consist of patrol and traffic activities in the city on an assigned shift in a patrol car or on foot. However, employees may be assigned special functions requiring prior law enforcement experience and may assume the supervisory duties of a higher level classification for training purposes. Work involves an element of personal danger, and employees must exercise individual judgment and discretion in meeting emergencies and enforcing ordinances and laws. Assignments may include conducting pre and post arrest investigations of crimes, crime scene photography, in-depth traffic investigations, and crime prevention activities. New Entry Level hires will be required to successfully complete an 18- month probationary period, prior to permanent appointment and successful completion of Washington Basic Law Enforcement Academy.

Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of five" with the top five candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation and selection as vacancies occur.
