The City of Normandy Park (Established in 1953) is a vibrant and growing area located approximately 13 miles south of downtown Seattle and just west of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. With a population of nearly 7,000 residents, Normandy Park boasts a neighborhood feeling while being situated close to large municipalities. Normandy Park is home to numerous city parks that offer varying activities such as baseball and soccer, hiking, access to a saltwater beach, and views of the Puget Sound, Olympic Mountains, and Vashon Island.

Department Information

The Normandy Park Police Department is a police agency comprised of dedicated law enforcement professionals who strive for community service through innovative and pro-active approaches to crime prevention. NPPD provides all police services for the City, which include a uniformed patrol division, motorcycle and bicycle patrol, as well as investigations and animal control. The department also has a Vacation House Watch Program, Paws on Patrol Program, and Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Training for women. The department structure includes a Chief, Administrative Sergeant, Patrol Sergeant, eight patrol officers, Records Manager, Evidence Technician and Reserve Police Officer’s. NPPD also participates in the Coalition of Small Police Agencies (CSPA) in King County, which consists of 12 police agencies through an inter-local agreement. The CSPA has a Major Crimes Task Force, and shares training and other opportunities amongst the 12 agencies.

Salary Information

2024 Salary Range: $6714.46 - $8394.52. The 2024 salary range is projected to increase between 2.5% - 5% in 2025 subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Incentive pay range from 2% to 4% for education, Detective, EVOC Instructor, and Field Training Officer. Longevity increases 1.5% after 5 years, 2.5% after 10 years, 4% after 15 years, 4.5% after 20 years, and 6% after 25 years. At the discretion of the Chief of Police, a lateral entry police officer may be placed on the salary scale and the vacation accrual schedule at a level commensurate with his or her prior service as a general duty police officer.
