Important Information

Due to PST's revision of the written test in March 2025, we are not accepting test scores taken from 2/15/2025 to 3/1/2025. Candidates who test prior to 2/15/2025 will be invited for an oral board and placed on the eligibility list for further consideration.  Those candidates who are unable to attend an oral board prior to 2/28/2028 will need to retest utilizing PSTs new written exam on or after 3/1/2025.  

If you are scheduled to test betwen 2/15 and 2/28/2025 please reschedule your test to a date after March 1, 2025 to take the new PST written test.  Rescheduling fees have been waived. 

If you have not yet registered for a test, please schedule a test date after March 1, 2025.

***Lateral Officer Candidates do not need to test with PST, a completed City of Mount Vernon application is all that is needed. The application can be found athttps://www.mountvernonwa.gov/Jobs.aspx ***

City matches 3% employees base wage in a 457 deferred compensation account.

Education incentive (BA/MA) 4% of base salary/4% of base salary + $100/mo.
