Job Description

A 911 Telecommunicator serves as the crucial link between emergency callers and first responders. Their primary responsibilities include:

  1. Emergency Response Handling: Answering incoming emergency calls promptly and efficiently.
  2. Information Gathering: Collecting essential details from callers to assess the situation accurately.
  3. Dispatch Coordination: Transmitting information to appropriate emergency services (police, fire, medical) for rapid response.

Hiring Status

Actively Hiring. Recruiting both entry and lateral employees. We will maintain a list of candidates as scores are received from Public Safety Testing. Selected candidates will receive an invitation to apply for the position of Telecommunicator. Interviews will be conducted on an as needed basis, and as positions become available, or to establish a hiring list. As positions become available, candidates must successfully complete the pre-employment process prior to the start of employment.

Candidates not selected for hire, will remain on the agency's eligibility list for a term of no more than 1 year.

Benefit Information

Macecom offers a top tier benefit package that was negotiated by the IAFF Local 2394 that includes the following.

Paid Annual Leave. Leave accrual is based on years of service. Beginning in 2025 new employees will earn 10 hours per month of paid time off. Annual leave is capped at 480 hours.

Comp time in lieu of overtime up to 180 hours, can be cashed out at employees' regular rate of pay.

11 paid holidays plus 24 hours of floating holiday time.

Paid sick leave. Employees will earn 8 hours of sick leave per month, with no maximum accrual. Sick hours can be cashed out dollar for dollar upon retirement.

Macecom pays 100% of premiums for Medical, Dental, Vision for the employee and all dependents.

Up to 5% match on deferred compensation.
