Community Information

The Forks Police Department is a rural community on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington. Port Angeles is the nearest city, some 60 miles to the East on Hwy. #101. Forks is nestled in the forests of several private timber companies, and is near the Olympic National Park. Forks is within miles of the Pacific Ocean. There are plenty of beach hikes available in the area, and numerous rivers for Steelhead and Salmon fishing. The City is also located near several American Indian Reservations, and enjoys sharing cultural awareness with each other. The City has one elementary school, one middle school, and one Senior High School. Forks High School has been designated a "high tech high" due to their focus on computers for the future. Also located in downtown Forks is an annex for Peninsula Community College. Forks is located about an hour drive from Port Angeles. From Port Angeles, you can hop a ferry to Victoria, Canada for the day or weekend. Another hour and a half with get you to Silverdale for shopping, and Bremerton is a short drive from there.

Department Information

The Forks Police Department has a Patrol Division, made up of a police chief, sergeant and 3 patrol officers. The department also operates its own 40 bed jail facility. The department pays for uniforms, and longevity incentive pay. The Police Officers and Corrections Staff are represented by Teamsters Local #589. There is one union staff member who is responsible for all records of the department and maintains control and audit trails regarding all evidence and property.
