Hiring Status

The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST with command interviews conducted on an as-needed basis. Vacancies are filled under Civil Service Rules with any of the top twenty candidates being eligible for a subsequent background investigation & selection as vacancies occur. 

Salary Information

2024 Wages:

- Entry Level: $7752 month

- Lateral Entry: $9858 month

- Top out: $10355 month

Excellent wages featuring additional incentive pay for education, physical fitness, longevity, and specialty assignments.
Lateral Officers will immediately qualify for pay incentives.

Basic Law Enforcement Academy Certification Applicants for Academy Graduate Entry into the Police Department shall be either a graduate of the WSCJTC Basic Academy holding a current and valid certification through the WSCJTC; or b) a graduate of a WSCTJC recognized equivalent training program as defined by WAC139-05-210 who meet the conditions established by WSCJTC at the time of hire.

Each applicant will be subject to a background investigation, which will include an inquiry into whether the applicant has any past or present affiliations with extremist organizations, a review of the applicant's social media accounts reference checks, a complete criminal records check, a polygraph examination as well as a medical and psychological examination.
