LATERAL ENTRY CANDIDATES ARE CURRENT CERTIFIED AND COMMISSIONED PEACE OFFICERS.

The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST with oral board interviews conducted on an as-needed basis. Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of five" with the top five candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation and selection as vacancies occur. 

Salary Information

Year 2021

$7,166.06 1st Class rank/month

$6,626.52 2nd Class rank/month (two years experience with any agency)

Benefit Information

Holidays, vacation, medical/dental/vision, longevity pay, clothing allowance, shift differential, union membership and representation.

Up to $5,000.00 hiring incentive depending on experience. At the discretion of the Chief.

Up to 180 hours of holiday cash-out per year.

Basic Law Enforcement Academy Certification Must have graduated from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Academy and hold a current certification, or pass the Washington State Criminal Justice Equivalence Academy Examination.
Prior Experience Requirement

Lateral Entry applicants must be currently employed, or have been employed within the preceding 365 calendar days as a fully commissioned, full-time employee of a public law enforcement agency, have graduated from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Academy, or pass the Washington State Criminal Justice Academy Equivalence Examination.
