Clark County Fire District 6 is establishing eligibility lists with the intent to hire nine (9) FF/PM personnel to begin employment April 1, 2025 for Lateral or Entry Level hires. For more information on Fire District 6, visit our web page.

Written Test: There is NO written test requirement for the Lateral Entry process.

Clark County Fire District 6 utilizes the services of Public Safety Testing for application and background investigation for candidates. Interested candidates must visit Public Safety Testing (www.publicsafetytesting.com) to create an account and apply on-line for Clark County Fire District 6. Call 866-HIRE-911 with any questions. Physical Abilities Test
Applicants must possess valid Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) credentials dated anytime from January 17, 2024 to January 17, 2025. Any legitimate CPAT will suffice.

CPAT Orientation and Practice Tests are recommended and available prior to the deadline. Deliver CPAT credentials in person OR via email fd6candidate@gmail.com OR via FAX 360.576.1198.

EMT-B or EMT-P Certification

Proof of valid, current National Registry or Washington State EMT-B (for FF/EMT applicants) or EMT-P (for FF/PM applicants) is required. Attach a copy to your application (Personal History Statement).

OR

If out-of-state EMT-B or EMT-P, must obtain Washington certification within six months of hire.

Community Information

Clark County is located in the beautiful southwestern part of the State of Washington, across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. Clark County offers excellent livability and a relatively low cost of living. The area is experiencing a positive cycle of new construction growth and development. The State of Washington has no state income tax.

Department Information

Formed in 1954, Clark County Fire District 6 protects and serves a population of over 70,000 residents in a 37 square mile area. The District is adjacent to the city of Vancouver, WA, is primarily urban and suburban and runs over 9,400 calls per year out of 4 fire stations. The District is governed by three elected Commissioners and provides fire suppression, rescue and non-transport ALS paramedic service. The District hired 11 new members to help staff a new 3-person engine company in Feb 2021 to bring the staffing to 75 FTE emergency response personnel and approximately 11 administrative personnel. The District is hiring five new members to replace current and expected vacancies. A new 4-person truck company will replace one engine at the end of 2025.

The eligibility list for Lateral/Experienced Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/PM will be established followed immediately by application/resume review, oral interviews, Chiefs Interviews, background checks, medical and psychological testing. Start date is projected as March 1, 2025 for Entry Level Firefighter hires. Must be licensed Paramedic.

Salary Information

Lateral hires with a minimum of three (3) years experience with a similar size agency will have their service time evaluated and credited to provide for a starting salary.

2025 Salary range: $8,419 - $11,499 per month for Firefighter/Paramedic

Benefit Information

Four (4) Platoon Schedule: 24hr on/48hr off, followed by 24hr on/96hr off (11 debit days)

Medical & Dental for employees & dependents

Deferred Compensation: $250/month employee contribution and 5.5%/month of top step firefighter wage employer contribution

Tuition Reimbursement

Education Incentives: AA Degree - 2.0%; BA/BS Degree - 3.0%

Vacation Accrual of 12 - 25.5 hr/month (based on years of service)

Sick Leave loan-against-accrual of 120 hours to start

Must possess State of Washington EMT-Basic certification or National Registry EMT certification. If National Registry, candidate must obtain Washington certification within six months of hire.

Paramedic Certification Washington State EMT-P certification or National Registry EMT-P certification. Must obtain Clark County certification within 6 months of hire.

Applicants who graduated from paramedic training after June 30, 1996 are required to have graduated from a paramedic training program that is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

For paramedics that are not Washington certified and have not completed an NREMT-P cognitive exam in the last 12 months, the candidate would be required to take and pass that exam for Washington certification.
